Re: 11.21am - James Nottingham
The Learning Pit encourages everyone to step out of their comfort zone.
The Learning Pit – and its broader lesson-planning framework, the Learning Challenge – reassures students on their learning journey. It offers encouragement during times of struggle; explains how frustration and confusion are a normal part of the learning process; and illustrates the steps that can be taken to move from surface-level knowledge to deep understanding.
Join James on 6th April at 1121am BST where he will explain his concept that has been embraced by educators and schools around the world, and explores the notion that being in The Learning Pit is a GOOD thing! Choose to be challenged and progress and achieve more!

So true - our curriculum and assessment of students drive students to want to 'pass' rather than learn, no wonder they opt for the easy way. It takes great confidence to jump into the learning pit and a talented dedicated teacher and learning culture to encourage students to take that risk.
Great visuals for their learning - I totally agree that the visuals must show how they climb out higher in their learning than when the student started.
Thank you

I found this session very informative in motivating pupils to choose the challenging learning journey which is so important to succeed in GCSE Maths with the emphasis on problem-solving in which proficiency in a number of topics is required.

Do you think the learning pit applies to higher education? As much as early years?
